5 Tips to Maximize Your Facebook Business Page

  1. If you currently are promoting yourself through a personal page, create a Facebook Business page instead.  A business page has several advantages: it is search engine friendly, so web visitors can see your page even if they are not on Facebook themselves; there is no limit to the number of people that can “like” your page (unlike Facebook personal profiles that limit you to 5000); you can create a custom URL (for example, fb.me/your-company-name) once you have 25 “likes”; and you can measure who is visiting your page using Facebook Insights once you have 30 “likes”.
  2. Provide posts on your business page that are 80% free information about your industry or products without self promoting. Then 20% of the time, promote your events, sales, new products and employees. Remember people can choose to hide your updates from their news feed, and if all you do is promote your company, they will exercise this sooner.
  3. Create links that drive traffic to your website and once there, make sure the landing page offers visitors an action they can take to get your information or add themselves to your email marketing list.
  4. Ask your Facebook fans to recommend your company. Remember if you do not ask your valued customers to represent your company, you will only hear from those who took the time to write because they are unhappy. You need to encourage satisfied customers to take the time to review you and when they do, make sure to thank them.
  5. Always take the time to comment back whenever a visitor posts a comment to your page. It is the respectful response to anyone who takes the time to say something about your company or your post.
