Here are a few tips to help you create better Facebook ads:

1. Start with choosing the right call to action built into Facebook. Think about what you want your target market to do and then select the right action from Facebook’s list. You can choose from these: •Sign up • Click Thru Actions • Download • Learn More • Shop Now • Watch More • Book Travel • Use App • Play Game • Open Link.

2. Only advertise to the people that are most likely to say yes to your company or call to action. So take the time to select a target market or to upload your customers from the past and use them as your demographic profile for future customers.

3. Select your copy carefully and be brief. Remember that many folks are using Facebook on a smartphones which means that your real estate for your ad is small and when you try to fit more in, the visitors will likely not be able to read it due to the font size and their vision limitations.

4. Here are a few tips from the review of many Facebook ads that are successful.

  • Most popular headline is 5 words
  • Post should be 14 words long median
  • Median link is 18 words
  • Most popular words: You, FREE, Because, Instantly and New, Yummy, Win

5. If you are posting to get a result or boosting your post remember that Facebook sets up their ads to get likes and not to get links (they don’t really want anyone to leave Facebook). So if you are trying to get results organically go negative or positive as not a lot of engagement happens when you go neutral. Make your posts newsworthy to get a response.

6. Only 9% of Facebook ads lead to a landing page. Which is crazy since the goal of an advertiser is typically to get someone to their landing page or their website. Set up your ads to get to your website or event page so they can learn more about your company or your event in order to be sold on your proposition.

7. Don’t rely on just one ad. The best performing campaigns have hundreds of ads, not just one. That is because we typically look for different features about products or services and if you create ads that taut different benefits it will better relate to different Facebook users. Mix up your ads using different images and different calls to action and then repeat the ones that do the best in terms of soliciting an action.

8. If you don’t have time to do all of this, seek a professional to help you get it done right and then you can always learn from them on how to maintain it yourself later. Hundreds of dollars are lost by people thinking they are running ads that were not approved by Facebook or by ads that are missing their mark or reaching the wrong target market.
