How Do Businesses Benefit From Pinterest?

So here is a quick tip on why Pinterest is getting so popular… it sells! Hey who knew? In fact I was a bit of a skeptic myself.  Who had time for another Social Media Platform? It turns out that there are compelling reasons to get on this one. So let’s start with an example of my own personal epiphany.

See my Pinterest Boards
In Pinterest you set up push pin boards showing your interest or products

I started my Pinterest account just to check out the platform. In case you are not aware of what Pinterest is, it is a social media platform based around the idea of a virtual push pin board that allows you to set up multiple boards and title them in a way that attracts your visitors and encourages them to re-pin your pinnings on their bulletin boards, thereby sharing your content to their friends. The key here is that your friends are exposing your content and growing your network just like facebook. In addition, you can add Pinterest to your Facebook apps so other people who are on Facebook can see that you have a Pinterest board and can take a look at your board if they are also on Pinterest. So again, this is a content sharing platform. But here is the proof in the pudding, the pins that you upload on Pinterest need to be attached to a page on the web. So if you have a product line and set up a board that says our clients, you can use their home page as a pin and expose them to your followers. Anyone who repins that is taking folks from that pin, if they are interested, to the website where they can buy the products.

So here is an example from my experience. The very next day after I set up my Pinterest boards, I noticed I was already getting some feedback that people were sharing my pins. While looking at their pins I noticed a bathing suit pinned on someone’s board. I loved it. It was just what I was wanting. So I clicked on the pin which sent me to Victoria’s Secret’s website page that was showing the exact suit along with the sale price. It was so easy – I ordered the suit.  Now this is what we in the marketing business call immediate gratification. The suit arrived within a week. And I wondered how I went from establishing my Pinterest Account to buying a bathing suit without blinking.

One tip about Pinterest is that you need to be invited to start your set-up, so if you need an invite, email me at tmade.mkt@verizon.net and type in “invite me to Pinterest”and I will get you an invitation. Then take a look at my boards and those of your friends and favorite businesses. Then set one up for yourself.  if you attend one of my workshops, don’t forget to ask me about integrating Pinterest into your Facebook page – to make the most of it. And remember if you don’t have time to set these up yourself, you know where to go. Pinterest is taking off and I don’t want your company to miss the plane.
