Facebook Like Button Replaces Sharing

Facebook logoFacebook has recently increased the functionality of their “like” button featured on external websites. Now, instead of appearing in the News Feed as a simple sentence (“So-and-so likes Article on Website”), the Like button will function just like the sharing feature: posting a full title, image and summary on the sharer’s profile (and friends’ News Feed).

Some users may be concerned with sharing some content, given how prominently it is now featured on their walls. However, Facebook feels that the increased visibility will be more beneficial to website content producers by driving more traffic to their sites.

Still a little fuzzy with Facebook terminology? Check out our new Social Media Glossary. It’s a work in progress, so let us know if we’re missing anything you’d like to see in the comments, or contact us directly.
